The Ho Chi Minh City to Tay Ninh distance is about 100 km between the two central areas. That is a useful starting point, not the exact length of every trip: a pickup in District 7, a hotel in Tay Ninh and the entrance to Ba Den Mountain produce different routes.

If you are booking a car, measure from the place where everyone will board to the place where they will actually get out. Add any visit in between rather than relying on a map pin labelled only “Tay Ninh”.

For a day trip, decide whether central Tay Ninh, the Cao Dai Holy See or Ba Den Mountain is your first destination. The order matters more to your total mileage than a small difference between two general city-to-city estimates.

You can share the addresses through the Ho Chi Minh City–Tay Ninh private car route. Include the first visit and any return pickup so the driver can distinguish a direct transfer from an all-day outing.

What does the 100 km distance cover?

Think of 100 km as an approximate road distance from a central Ho Chi Minh City starting point to central Tay Ninh. It helps you judge the scale of the outing and set an initial departure window. It does not include every journey across Ho Chi Minh City before the car heads northwest, nor every local road after it reaches Tay Ninh.

A family leaving from Hoc Mon may have less city driving than a family collected in District 7. Someone staying at a central Tay Ninh hotel will have a different final leg from a visitor going directly to the mountain’s visitor entrance. Both can truthfully say they are travelling from Ho Chi Minh City to Tay Ninh.

  • One pickup: use the exact building entrance or meeting point, not only the district name.
  • Several pickups: include the road between them before measuring the outward journey.
  • Hotel arrival: end the map route at the hotel’s vehicle entrance.
  • Attraction visit: select the actual gate or car park your group will use.

If a large apartment complex has more than one vehicle gate, send the one where the driver can stop. A correct meeting point can save more confusion than debating whether a general online estimate should be 98 or 102 km.

Which road does a typical trip use?

National Route 22 is a common westbound corridor out of Ho Chi Minh City, passing through the Cu Chi area before connecting toward Tay Ninh. Near Go Dau, the direction for Tay Ninh city differs from the direction for Moc Bai. Follow your real destination, not a road name remembered from another trip.

The driver may choose a different connection because of the pickup address, traffic or temporary road arrangements. A route that is slightly longer in kilometres can be easier than one with a difficult urban exit or an inconvenient approach to your hotel.

  • Agree on the pickup gate before the car arrives.
  • Give the complete Tay Ninh address, including the attraction entrance if relevant.
  • List a meal or sightseeing detour as a stop, not as part of a direct transfer.
  • Check current road signs and traffic guidance on the day.

Our Tay Ninh road guide looks at the road choices in more detail. You do not need to prescribe every turn when booking a car with a driver; the useful information is where the journey starts, where it ends and whether anyone needs to stop along the way.

City centre, Cao Dai Holy See or Ba Den Mountain?

These are different destinations. A city-centre hotel is not a substitute map pin for the Cao Dai Holy See, and the mountain visitor area is not the city centre. If you plan to visit more than one, place them in the order you intend to travel.

For Ba Den Mountain alone, ask the driver to take you to the appropriate visitor entrance or parking area. The road journey finishes there; time for tickets, queues and the cable car belongs to the visit, not the driving distance. You may not need to enter central Tay Ninh at all.

For the Cao Dai Holy See, confirm the gate where passengers may be dropped off and where they will meet the car afterward. If your group visits the mountain first and the Holy See later, the drive between them must be included in the day’s itinerary.

  • One destination: measure directly to its real entrance.
  • Mountain plus Holy See: add the road between those two stops.
  • Lunch in town: include the restaurant only once you have chosen it.
  • Return to another address: calculate that return leg separately.

Do not add every attraction’s distance from central Tay Ninh to the original 100 km figure; doing that counts some road twice and omits other sections. Our Ba Den Mountain distance guide gives the mountain-specific distance when Ba Den is your main destination.

Why do two map results disagree?

First compare the pins. One map may start at a city landmark while another starts at your current location. At the Tay Ninh end, a broad place label may resolve to a city office, a hotel or an attraction gate. The numbers are not answering the same question if the endpoints differ.

Apps can also favour a faster road over a shorter one, and a new departure time can change which route they recommend. That does not make the straight-line distance useful for a car trip. Ask for road directions to the addresses you will actually use.

  • Check that the starting pin is the pickup entrance.
  • Check that the destination is the correct hotel or visitor gate.
  • Set the same travel mode and compare the same planned stops.
  • Share the full address as well as a pin if the gate is hard to find.

If your group is comparing two cars or two departure times, keep the endpoints unchanged. Otherwise a smaller mileage may simply reflect a different meeting place, not a better route.

How long can a trip of about 100 km take?

Allow roughly 2–2.5 hours for a straightforward drive from a central Ho Chi Minh City departure to the Tay Ninh area in ordinary conditions. Treat that as a planning range, not a guaranteed arrival time. Leaving the city, approaching the destination and travelling at a busy hour can change the result.

A meal, an additional pickup or a pause for children is time on top of the direct drive. For a ceremony, ticketed activity or another fixed appointment, give yourself enough room to park, walk in and gather the group after arriving.

Do not calculate arrival by dividing 100 km by a highway speed limit. Part of the trip uses urban roads, junctions and local access streets. Our Tay Ninh driving-time guide helps you choose a departure window for the activity you actually want to do.

What changes on a same-day return?

A same-day trip is more than two copies of the city-to-city figure. The car may collect your group at one address, take you to Ba Den Mountain, continue to the Cao Dai Holy See, wait through lunch and return to a different city address. Each leg belongs in the plan.

Start with a simple sequence rather than a precise total you cannot yet justify: pickup, first attraction, lunch, second attraction if wanted, return pickup and final drop-off. Once the locations are fixed, the driver can estimate the full road distance and the time the vehicle is needed.

  • For a direct one-way transfer, give the final drop-off.
  • For an outward and return transfer, give both dates and pickup points.
  • For a car that waits, say where and for how long you expect to visit.
  • For several households, decide whether one meeting point would suit everyone.

If rain or fatigue makes the second visit less appealing, it helps to know which stop is optional before leaving. A flexible day can still be well planned. You can use the Ho Chi Minh City–Tay Ninh route page to arrange the vehicle around the route that your group chooses.

What should you send for an accurate estimate?

A brief message with real addresses is enough. You do not need a spreadsheet or an exact kilometre total of your own. Give the driver the information that changes the road and the vehicle, then ask about the complete itinerary.

  • Pickup address, building entrance and any second collection.
  • First Tay Ninh destination and its specific gate or meeting point.
  • Other definite stops in the order you want to visit them.
  • Return pickup point and final drop-off if you are travelling back the same day.
  • Passenger count, luggage and any child seat or access needs.

If the group has not settled on lunch or a second attraction, mark it as optional instead of pretending the route is fixed. Confirm the essential journey first and discuss what would change if you add a stop later.

For airport collection, the airport-to-Tay Ninh guide covers the extra time between landing and meeting the car. It is a different starting point from a central-city hotel, even if the final destination in Tay Ninh is the same.

Questions about the distance to Tay Ninh

Is it exactly 100 km from Ho Chi Minh City to Tay Ninh?

No. About 100 km is a central-area reference. Your actual road distance depends on the pickup, the specific Tay Ninh destination, the stops and the road used.

Does an airport pickup have the same distance?

Not necessarily. Measure from the agreed Tan Son Nhat meeting point rather than reusing a central-city estimate. Allow separate time after landing to reach the car.

Must we drive through Tay Ninh city to reach Ba Den Mountain?

No. If the mountain is your only destination, use its visitor entrance as the map endpoint. A city-centre detour is needed only when it is part of your plan.

Is a day trip exactly 200 km in total?

No. Doubling a rough one-way figure is only a first sketch. Visits, lunch stops, different return addresses and additional pickups can change the full journey.
