A car hire price per kilometre makes sense only when you know which kilometres and which service it covers. Check the measured journey, vehicle and time needed before comparing the total.
For a trip from Ho Chi Minh City, begin with the pickup and final drop-off addresses. Extra pickups, planned stops and a different return address can change the journey you are asking about.
A route quote and a distance-based quote should be read against their own terms. The important question is whether each one covers your complete itinerary, not which has the smaller number beside it.
The Car Booking route fare table is a useful starting point for listed routes. For a different itinerary, send the actual journey details when requesting a quote.
Find out what the quoted distance includes
List the addresses in travel order, including stops and the return if needed. Check whether the quoted distance follows that full route or only the direct outward journey.
A map pin inside a large resort or industrial area may not identify the vehicle entrance. Use the actual gate or meeting point when discussing the route. For a return to a different address, write it as a separate part of the plan.
Outward and return roads can also differ. Ask how the journey has been measured rather than automatically doubling a distance you found for one direction.
Read the rate alongside vehicle and time
If the quote uses one rate for the whole applicable distance, multiply those kilometres by that rate to get the distance charge. If it uses distance bands, multiply the kilometres in each band by that band’s rate, then add the amounts together. Finally, check any minimum charge and separately listed fees in the quote to see how the total is reached.
| Part of the quote | What to check |
|---|---|
| Distance | Where it begins and ends, and whether stops and the return are included. |
| Rate or route amount | Which vehicle and itinerary it applies to, and any minimum or distance bands stated in the quote. |
| Time | Drop-off only, waiting, a later collection or use over several days. |
| Total | Items included and any separately agreed amounts. |
The same driving distance can involve very different use of a vehicle. Going straight to a meeting and finishing there is different from asking the car to wait and take you home afterwards.
For several days of travel, set out the visits and overnight locations by day. Distance alone does not describe the time you want the vehicle available. Compare quotes only when both cover that schedule.
Check the full amount before agreeing
Read the total with its included items. Ask about tolls, parking, waiting or other requirements relevant to your journey, and how a change would affect the quote. Keep that information with the itinerary you approve.
If the return time is still open, say so. It is clearer to discuss that uncertainty than to enter a time which the rest of the group may mistake for a confirmed pickup.
